How do you get the best price when buying equipment and maintain your integrity?

Buying equipment is not easy.

How many times has a supplier asked you to share the proposal from his/her competitor, promising to beat/match it?

The problem with this, is that it does not get you the best possible deal…it just get’s to the best ‘half-chance deal’.

Some buyers are not too worried about integrity and will share quotes without any issue, but this method of business doesn’t suit everyone (me included).

It tends to drive out desperation leaving one side of the party unhappy with the result. Doesn’t make for a great working relationship.

I don’t ask to see a competitors proposal. Their pricing is not my business, it is yours.

If you find you are being told by your suppliers that they are giving you the best they can, but could try to match another quote, “if you share it”…. tell them to take a hike.
